Dr. Frédéric Sinniger

My research focus is on the use of DNA information in biodiversity and taxonomy studies.
My primary activity concerns the Marine Meiobenthos Diversity project (MARMEDIV). This project explores the diversity and distribution of microscopic organisms living in deep sea sediments using environmental DNA sequencing.
Another part of my research (essentially previous work being continued when I have time) concerns the taxonomy and evolution of zoanthids, an order of colonial sea anemones, and the development of identification methods helping non specialists to identify specimens. In this part of my research activities I explore how to apply the concept of DNA barcoding to anthozoans (corals, sea anemones, etc...).
